Dedication Service
I hope you are all enjoying the new lounge extensions and associated rooms. They will be formally dedicated to God’s good purposes in the morning service on July 17th, probably with a morning tea/lunch afterwards. A small team is working on this service and you will be given more information as we work things out! In the meantime, please put 17th July in your diary – it would be great if everyone could be there to celebrate this significant point on our journey together. Thank you. Sally.

Sunday, July 17th Dedication of the new extension

Planning for the dedication of our new extension is underway. If there are people you think should be invited, songs you think should be sung, or any other suggestions you would like to make, please contact one of the planning team – Sally Carter, Ian Finlayson, Bruce McConnochie, Bryan Rudd, Anne Silson or Brenda Silson. This week we welcome St John Ambulance to St Paul’s for their annual church parade.

The parade is held each year on the day closest to the Feast of John the Baptist. Other countries do much more to celebrate the Feast of John the Baptist than we do. It is midsummer in the northern hemisphere and is a big night out with fireworks, bonfires and parties. I suspect a lot of these celebrations are more to do with midsummer than with the apparently rather austere, ascetic figure of John the Baptist. But I could be wrong. Anyway, it will be good to share our worship with the people of St Johns Ambulance!

The speaker this month is to be Gabriella James. Gabriella was born in Romania and came to NZ while a young woman. Gabriella has such a deep concern for Romanian orphans that she holds a garage sale at her place each Saturday morning to raise funds for them. Fireside members have agreed to bring something saleable to our June meeting to donate to Gabriella’s cause. We invite everyone who wishes to donate some item that is good, but no longer needed, to Gabriella’s garage sale.
All are warmly invited to our meeting to meet and hear Gabriella. If you cannot come, but would like to contribute, please give your item/s to a Fireside member. Isabel Morgan – for the Fireside Group.
