Hymn Sing Service

On Sunday 30th October, our services will be devoted to our favourite hymns – singing them, reading some of the readings which inspired them, hearing the stories of what inspired the writers and what inspires you! Requests are already trickling in through the website (www.stpaulsnapier.org.nz) and through our Facebook page, but there are other ways to get your request in. Email the office (stpaulsnapier@gmail.com), phone (835 5359), drop a note through the hatch or any other written way which works for you. I can’t promise we will sing them all, but we will give it our best shot. If you attend only one service, please indicate which one you hope to be present at.

Amazing Grace

The words for Amazing Grace were written by John Newton and are today most commonly sung to the tune “New Britain”. It is very popular and one of the most easily recalled hymns. Wikipedia has a lot of information about the hymn. In 1972 the Pipes and Drums of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards had a hit with Amazing Grace which according to Wikipedia became, as of 2002, the best-selling instrumental record in British history.
